Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Martin Eye Associates the leading provider of vision care products and services in Sanford.


Dr. Alex Martin

Alex MartinDr. Alex Martin is co-owner and managing partner of Martin Eye Associates.

He received his Bachelor of Art from East Carolina University and Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO).

He was born and raised in Madison, NC. He has been in private practice optometry since graduating from PCO in 1998. In 2004, he joined Dr. Larry O’Connell, founder of the practice in 1973, who had been a life-long family friend and mentor.

Dr. Martin enjoys all aspects of primary care optometry, but has a special interest within the practice for disease management of dry eye, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetics. He also serves as a consultant for the practice affiliation group Vision Source, as an Administrator and member of the vendor relations team, where he oversees frame vendors and provided optical lectures and consultations for the 3,000+ vision source members across the country.

Dr. Martin and his wife, Dr. Lynne Martin (below), have two children, Ella and Julia, and a dog. Brady. Dr. Martin mostly enjoys spending time with his family, as well as, playing golf, boating, and sporting events when not in the office.


Dr. Lynne N. Martin

Dr. Lynne N. Martin is co-owner of Martin Eye Associates.

She received her Bachelor of Science from Bucknell University and her Doctor of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO).   Following graduation, she completed a 1-year residency in Primary Care at PCO.  She was born and raised in Clarks Summit, PA.  She moved to North Carolina following her residency to begin her career in private practice and join her fiancé and now husband (Dr. Alex Martin – above).

Dr. Martin enjoys all aspects of primary care optometry but has a special interest within the practice for specialty contact lenses, refractive surgery co-management, and corneal disease.  Before joining the practice full-time, she was the co-managing doctor at LASIK Plus in Raleigh, NC, and has performed thousands of pre- and post-operative refractive surgery procedures.

Dr. Martin and her husband, Dr. Alex Martin (above), have two children, Ella and Julia, and a dog, Brady.  Dr. Martin mostly enjoys spending time with her family, as well as, shopping, traveling and long walks with Brady (and sometimes Alex too 😉 ).

Our Staff at Martin Eye Associates is dedicated to providing our patients with the highest level of eye care and eyewear in the industry.  They are not just a part of our team but are part of the family.   They spend excessive time annually on training and education to provide the highest level of care to the Sanford community.  Without their passion and commitment to excellence, MEA could not service the thousands of patients we care for annually.
